NOTHE FORT, Weymouth, Dorset

NEW LOCATION
A DHN TEAM EVENT
Dead Haunted are pleased to bring you a new location: the terrifying and atmospheric NOTHE FORT in Weymouth, Dorset
HISTORY
Work first began on the Nothe Fort in Weymouth, Dorset in 1860. The fort consisted of three levels; the Magazine level, Gun Deck, and the Ramparts.
The Tatton-Browns were the first soldier company to be garrisoned at the fort, and they specialised in handling canons of up to 18 tons in weight! During WWII, the guns at the fort were fired in anger, when two ships failed to identify themselves and were shot at; the ships turned out to be refugees from the Channel Islands!
For the remainder of the war, Nothe Fort's artillery was trained on protecting the surrounding area from enemy aircraft and ships.
From 1956, the fort was no longer used as protection for Portland Harbour, and today it is maintained by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council. The fort is open to the public to explore the rooms within...and maybe the ghosts too; Nothe Fort is a very popular location for ghost hunting!
Staff members often refuse to enter certain parts of the fort by themselves.
GHOSTS AND HAUNTINGS
There have been rumours and whisperings for a long time about Nothe Fort being haunted, with some very strange experiences and incidents being reported.
THE WHISTLING GUNNER
Stories have existed for years which detail the spectral whistling gunner of Nothe Fort, and there is even a passageway dedicated to him within. Many visitors and guests to Nothe Fort have heard his unexplained whistling...and hopefully we will too.
THE UNEXPLAINED FIGURE
Other reports detail a white figure being witnessed walking about the parapets of the Fort, when the fort has been locked. When this has been checked, there is nobody to be found.
THE POLTERGEIST
According to some accounts, Nothe Fort has an active poltergeist which has been encountered here on numerous occasions.

Testimonial
We wanted to thank you for a great night on Friday 12th February at the Golden Fleece in York. Your team was very friendly and the organisation very professional. We especially liked Phil's comprehensive run down of the equipment which was very in depth.
We were disappointed that half of our friends didn't turn up due to illness but the evening was so enjoyable, it didn't matter. In fact we are thinking of booking another event as soon as possible, as we enjoyed it so much. We're on a mission now!!!
